The Neighborhood Theatre Theater workshop for children 7 to 12 years old

The Elephas tiliensis group creates the Neighborhood Theatre.
Following the principles of applied theater and community theater, Despina Anastasoglou coordinates children aged 7-12 with the aim of creating a group, which will present its material in the public spaces of our neighborhood.
Keeping the Loop space as a fixed base, the workshop makes use of the public space, the hill of Filopappos, the city and the neighborhood itself. It explores ways in which children can perceive the theatrical process as a journey of getting to know themselves and others.
The workshop harmonizes the theater-pedagogical material with the needs of the Greek reality, the lack of theater education in education and promotes the cultivation of community theater culture. Community can be thought of as more than a group of people who happen to live in a certain area instead of another. Rather, it is a densely structured core, which can be defined not according to issues such as gender, origin, but diversity and inclusion. According to the principles of community theatre, the aim of the performances is to present to the community a narrative of their life or history through the eyes of children. The community, just by its presence in the show, confronts itself.
