Lula, by Vangelis Raptopoulos

The novel that has shocked, has divided and has thrilled everyone for the first time in the theater.

Trying to reach the peak of pleasure, at all costs, a beautiful student of Philosophy, Athens, faces the nightmarish aspect of lust. Trying to reach at all costs at the peak of pleasure, a beautiful student of Philosophy, Athens faces the nightmarish aspect of lust. It is a play for the female orgasm and its absence, for the use of cannabis, For sexual perversions, For lust as a nightmare of the East, For vampires in Achaia the last century, For universes of other dimensions in modern Athens, And the world of psychoses. It is a political pornography.

The autistic world of Lula. Lula acts as a symbol of a whole generation who fought to become mature in the toxic decades from the 90s onwards. Lula seeks desperately and unconsciously an outlet of the body as she cannot be connected with the reality, the country and the history. Her anorgasmia makes her obsessive. It is presented as disability and vice. She needs to reach an orgasm to be released. Her roommate, Evi, her alter ego, without the dazzling beauty of Lula, makes men run behind her because she knows how to satisfy them and be satisfied. She is the opposite of Lula, she is her shameful, sarcastic and cynical partner.

The two girls are in a student room in Exarchia, with the TV on while the people around them , in the neighboring balconies, loudly sing Sfakianaki’s and Garbi’s songs and talk about sex as they are reading magazines, the two of them go to University, although they hardly talk about it, and they fantasize the gymnasts of the daily talk shows. All these, until the Vampire invades and introduces them with a hike in Exarchia , with a metaphysical, diabolical, creepy and exquisite city.

The world of “Lula” through pornography, humor, the noir and the thriller, is revealed as a study of a generation, our generation, which identifies and fights with its autism in order to reach the adulthood.

The play is strictly inappropriate for under aged.

The Vangelis Raptopoulo’s novel “Lula” is published by Kastaniotis pulications .
