An Oratory, Ode in Everyday Life, Episodes 13 & 18
Elephas Tiliensis was founded in 2013 by Dimitris Agartzidis and Despina Anastasoglou. Their performances are mainly inspired by the field of literature. They appeared with the Ziranna Zateli’s Last Year’s Fiancé, who had a great success, followed by the performances: Alexandria (based on the Lawrence Darrell Alexandria Quartet), How will my redeemer be? (based on Borges’ The house of Asterios), Lula by Vangelis Raptopoulos, Persona (based on Bergman’s film) and others. This year’s theatrical period presents the work of the Cretan folk tradition The shepherdess in the New World Theater and the Ibsen’s play The Lady of the Sea.
The show they are preparing for the Athens Festival is based on the “Nafsika” and “Penelope” episodes of Joyce top work and creates an oratorio for an idol man singer, a female actor-primadonna, a sexy dance of women (Sirens) and a music band. According to Elaphas Tiliensis, the show will be a “philosophical stand up comedy” that, having the center of Pinelopi’s figure, will hijack Odysseus’ homeric model and, in its homeric face, that has been imposed by the patriarchal way of being and thinking in the West.

Directors’ Note
A vulgar prayer in whatever ugly we were forced to become. A worshipful acceptance of human ridiculiness. A philosophical comedy about futility and the importance of love and forgiveness. The bodies of Leopold and Molly are crawling with nerves, lack, eroticism and dissatisfaction, while uncontrollably glorifying human love. The Irish writer delivers a devotional anthem about everything that we lose as we move away from our childhood and we get near to the end.
A modern, dulcimer Odysseus, unbelieving and graphic, and the notorious Penelope, end up together in the marriage bed, like the Homeric couple, conversing equally and doing the same, exposing the hymn of their sinful love to the eyes of a society that, image and their likeness.
